ARTPOP Promo in Full Swing: Gaga Unleashes "Aura" Demo!

Lady Gaga, queen of all things pop, has been missing from my blog, and the entire music world, for quite some time now after being forced to cancel the remainder of her Born This Way Ball due to a terrible hip break a few months back. But, like a true warrior rising from the ashes, Gaga has slowly been making her comeback with small pieces of information regarding her upcoming third full studio album, ARTPOP. The pop artist has already announced November 11 as its anticipated release date, that the first single, "Applause", would make its way out on August 19, followed by a sure-to-be-spectacular VMA performance on August 25, but apparently that was not enough to satisfy her or her millions of devoted fans.

Last night Gaga made the Internet stand still, as only she can, with the leak of a demo version of a supposed ARTPOP track titled "Aura" (or "Burqa" as some fans have been calling it) and its greatness and weirdness is almost too hard to describe. The song is literally receiving mixed critical reception with some calling it a "mess", but let us remember the leak is only a demo and still something different than the generic, uptempo trash pop music has turned into since Gaga's unfortunate absence. There is no confirmation if this version of "Aura" is a completed version or if it will even make it on the upcoming album's tracklist. One thing is certain: Little Monsters don't seem to care. We are just happy to finally hear something new from our queen! Sheeeee's baaaaaack!!!!

"Aura" opens up with some Django Unchained guitars supporting Gaga's breathtaking vocals which are somewhat reminiscent to those found on "Americano" and "SchieBe". With lyrics such as "I killed my former friend, Left her in the trunk on Highway 10", it's clear that the artist is not messing around and ready to snatch any wig that gets in her way. The song continues with Gaga's robotic laugh which quickly changes into the chanting of the supposed song title. However, the show-stopping highlight of this leaked demo drama is the soaring chorus, "Do you wanna see me naked lover? Do you wanna peek underneath the cover?", which transforms the new track into an explosive EDM moment we have not really seen from Gaga up to this point in her career. Hopefully, THIS chorus is a representation of ARTPOP. If so, we are in for some good, radio-worthy fun.

Some critics, and unfortunate souls, have already dismissed the recent demo as a form of "racism", a meaningless tune of mystery and sex that is claiming the artist wants to be a white-Non Muslim savior to the less fortunate, yet fail to grab hold of Gaga's true message. Lyric after  lyric describe a sense of female empowerment. It is about a woman’s free choice to wear what she wants and to be in control of her own sexuality. The artist makes a small reference to the veil and burqa in regards to how it should be viewed as a simple piece of fashion that women choose to wear, rather than because a man or organization is forcing you them to.

The path to ARTPOP has been a long one. With a couple of setbacks and initial criticism, saying the artist has lost her touch, Gaga is determined to prove the naysayers wrong. So far, dates have been confirmed, the lead single is ready to go and countless, nude yet gorgeous, promo pictures have been building anticipation for all the right reasons. "Aura" seems to carry the same, strong lyrical messages as those songs found on Born This Way, but it feels and sounds like Gaga is letting the reigns go just a little bit, and what we are hearing is some carefree musical experimentation. Before you count her out, I'm not because I'm loving this crazy demo, let's wait until "Applause" is officially release, shall we?

UPDATE: One of the last links where I could still find the song. Gaga's team did a good job getting rid of this demo.
