Griffin Dunne's Fierce People are Boring People

Fierce People could be an insightful and poetic film, yet despite trying really hard, it fails. I'm not going to waste too much time talking about this one since it barely held my interest. For the most part, I like the cast, I like the story, I like a lot of the details, but I didn't really like this film. FP feels like a paint by numbers effort and compared to similar films such as The Squid and the Whale, Igby Goes Down or even The Royal Tenenbaums, it simply does not rate. I haven't read the Dirk Wittenborn's book of the same name, but I get the feeling it probably is worth spending some time with...the movie is not.
